Animal Collective’s 2007 album, Strawberry Jam is a masterpiece, finding the band in a transitional, trans-formative, and most importantly transcendent place.  The last truly great album featuring the original line up of Deakon, Geologist, Avey Tare, and Panda Bear is a showcase of strengths provided by all parties.  From the jubilant opener “peace bone” to the early morning lament of “derek”, Strawberry Jam is an incredibly powerful, fun, and entrancing record.
